Maternal Mental health support

Pregnancy and the postpartum period can be joyful and overwhelming. We provide compassionate, culturally responsive care for birthing parents and families from pre-pregnancy through the first year and beyond.

What We Support

Before-Birth Support (Prenatal Care for Mental Health)

  • Prevention plan for PMADs: identify risk factors; build supports, sleep and nutrition routines, and coping tools before baby arrives

  • Birth story & expectations work: values-aligned birth preferences; prepare for uncertainty and decision-making

  • Skills for nervous-system regulation: breath, grounding, mindfulness, pain-coping, and partner co-regulation

Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) can include:

  • Postpartum depression (PPD): persistent sadness, loss of interest, guilt, fatigue

  • Anxiety & panic: racing thoughts, restlessness, intrusive worries

  • Birth trauma & PTSD: flashbacks, hypervigilance, avoidance

  • OCD (perinatal): intrusive, unwanted thoughts and compulsive behaviors

  • Bipolar spectrum changes (perinatal): mood elevation and depression cycles

If scary or unwanted thoughts show up, you’re not “a bad parent.” You deserve support and safety.

Signs You Might Benefit From Support

  • Feeling down, numb, or on edge most days

  • Trouble sleeping—even when baby sleeps

  • Feeling overwhelmed, irritable, or disconnected from baby/partner

  • Intrusive thoughts that are distressing or hard to turn off

  • Big changes in appetite, energy, or motivation

  • Thoughts of harming yourself or feeling hopeless
